This Position Is Responsible For
- Overseeing the development and the coordination of the IEP/DPG for students grades 9-12
- Liaising with funding sources and parents, scheduling and participating in formal IEP and related meetings,
- Providing training, monitoring and guidance to staff on developing, writing, implementing, documenting and recording the IEP/DPG
- Serving as a key role by collaborating with Local Education Agency representatives during the IEP process
- Implementing relevant staff development
Required Experience
Requirements for the School Support Specialist:
- Must have a valid teaching certificate in special education, preferable a masters degree, and 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience with a variety of formal and informal assessment measures and excellent analysis and interpretation skills to assist staff with translating test results into measurable educational goals and objectives
- Outstanding organization and written expression abilities are essential
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills are also necessary
