We are looking for a Deputy Chief Medical Officer to join our team.
administration of patient care at designated sites or multi-specialty sites. The DCMO is responsible for the implementation and oversight of an integrated clinical practice delivery model while providing direct supervision of clinical staff to include physicians and advanced practice practitioners. The DCMO will collaborate with other clinical/medical managers to ensure a high standard of clinical delivery across patient care specialties within various sites. The DCMO will also provide and manage direct health care for a specified patient population while ensuring quality and comprehensive medical care delivery and development for all health care plans and programs.
As a member of upper-level management the DCMO is a vital part of the healthcare leadership team, supporting the CMO in ensuring high-quality patient care, effective operations, and compliance with regulatory requirements, while guiding the clinical operations team with a goal of improving performance of the respective clinical team and delivering high-quality patient services that is cost-effective and efficient. This includes collaborations with the Chief Quality and Transformation Officer and CMO in ensuring the quality and standards of medical care, assisting with strategic planning and medical staff oversight in collaboration with the CMO and other members of Optimus’ Senior Management Team.
In addition to the administrative clinical leadership function, the DCMO will provide direct patient care in his/her/their designated specialty with 35% of time allocated to administration and 65% allocated to direct patient care. These allocations may be adjusted based on the needs of the health center from time to time to ensure efficient management of responsibilities.
This role focuses on the oversight and management of the following areas:
Experience
Three to five years of clinical management experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the area of medical specialty. Familiarity with tele-medicine and prior experience a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bi-lingual English, Spanish preferred
Licensure / Certification
Current unrestricted Connecticut License to practice medicine such as MD, DO, APRN or PA
Active Federal DEA and Controlled Substance Registration
Board Certified in Specified Area of Medical Specialty.

- OB/GYN (i.e., providing direct supervision to the OB/GYN Medical Director).
- Family Medicine (i.e., directly supervising Family Medicine clinicians).
- Podiatry (i.e., directly supervising Podiatry clinicians).
- Clinical Informatics (i.e., providing direct supervision to the Clinical Informatics Clinician Specialist).
- Clinical Work in Progress (WIPs): i.e., in collaboration with staff from the Quality and Operations departments, keeping track of open and unresolved clinical encounters and supporting the Clinical Directors in working with Optimus clinicians to complete and submit all encounters in compliance with Optimus’ 72-hour policy.
- Together with the CMO, CNO, COO, Medical Directors, and Directors of Operations, working to optimize day-to-day operations and clinical aspects of healthcare services.
Experience
