Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Has responsibility for directing the preparation and implementation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.

Oversees executives who direct department activities that implement the organization's policies and action plans.

Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.

Maintains a sound plan of corporate organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.

Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization.

Organizes and directs teams as necessary to determine solutions to problems or issues that arise internally or with clients.

Establishes operating policies consistent with the president's broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.

Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the president.

Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.

Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

Takes corrective action when necessary to enable the company to stay on track to achieve its goals and objectives.

Responsible for continuous review of existing processes within the business to determine if such processes have room for improvement and meet industry and/or EMCOR standards.

Assist the president with any regional issues or opportunities as necessary.

Address and resolve issues normally handled by the president in his absence if time is of the essence.

Proactively utilize financial and business tools to maximize the profitability of operations.

Proactively direct competitive market comparisons to maximize labor profitability.

Provides leadership and mentoring to company employees, particularly direct reports.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages a number of subordinate Division/Department heads who supervise a total of 250+ employees in the Finance, Operations, and Business Services (backoffice) areas. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Will be required to utilize a computer to complete routine tasks. Software regularly used includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet Explorer, and Lotus Notes.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
