Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a MDCB Certified Medical Dosimetrist to join our team! This position will support the Texas Oncology - Harlingen.

What does theCertified Medical Dosimetrist do? (but not limited to)
In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The Dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images; which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Must be able to generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and various imaging modalities, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to adapt to ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.
- Must be able to perform routine duties independent of supervision but consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
- Must be able to consult and communicate with the therapists regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
- Must be able to perform or supervise the design and fabrication of immobilization devices, beam modifying devices (i.e., compensating filters, bolus, molds, custom shields, etc.) and treatment planning aids.
- Strong experience with Varian LINACs, Eclipse TPS, ARIA/Mosaiq, IMSure/RadCal, Image registration softwares
The ideal candidate for the Medical Dosimetrist will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Credentials as a MDCB Certified Medical Dosimetrist preferred or MDCB eligible
- Two years of experience with Eclipse TPS preferred
- Two years of experience preferred although new graduates will be considered.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in planning VMAT, IMRT, SBRT, and 3D plans
- Prior work in a Varian linear accelerator environment a plus
