Job Overview

T&G Constructors is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to support the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with daily accounting functions. This role is crucial to ensuring vendors and subcontractors are paid properly and timely, and that all necessary compliance documentation is collected, scanned, and stored in the RedTeam software system.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, experienced in construction accounting, and comfortable working with both internal teams and external partners to ensure all payments, documentation, and accounting entries are processed accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable (Operations):
• Enter and route approved invoices through the RedTeam accounting system.
• Process manual check requests as needed.
• Generate checks, attach supporting documentation, and submit for President's signature.
• Distribute checks to vendors and collect lien waivers when applicable.
• Verify vendor credentials, including insurance certificates and subcontract agreements.
• Maintain annual Accounts Payable (AP) files.
• Upload Notices to Owner into RedTeam.
• Review and reconcile vendor statements.
• Audit and prepare 1099 forms at year-end.
• Provide administrative support to Project Accountants and the Controller as needed.
• Take on other responsibilities as assigned by company leadership.
• General Ledger / Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and post journal entries for monthly closings and payroll.
• Review and assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the overhead budget, including delivering a monthly budget report to the Controller.
• Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist the HR team with Certified Payroll when needed.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial general contractor construction accounting is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of construction-specific financial processes, including Schedule of Values, Notices to Owner, lien waivers, early payment discounts, and retainage.
• Familiarity with RedTeam and QuickBooks Online software is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
