Summary

The CNC operator operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts (CNC). The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment

Main Activities/Responsibilities

• Perform basic checks of oils, coolant, and filters to CNC machines and refill/replace if needed.
• Perform Ultra Sonic Parts washing.
• Perform Manual Parts buffing.
• Receives material and loads bar feeder, if necessary.
• Receives process job package and verify that the components are correct and receives material and loads bar feeder, if necessary.
• Checks parts according to the Inspection plan.
• Performs first cut off.
• Returns all axis to home position.
• Ability to look at screen pages and machine operation to detect and correct malfunctions .
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
• Verifies the correct program is running in the machine
• Replaces tooling at the machine.
• Recommend process improvements with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
• Ensures work area, machine, tooling, and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil deposits.
• Labels parts to send to next operation.
• Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
  
  

Competencies

• General knowledge and understanding of ISO 13485 as it pertains to the job preferred, on the job training provided.
• English communication skills preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Genera knowledge of precision measuring equipment and real-world experience with those instruments – including but not limited to calipers, ID / OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators.
• Ability to read Blueprints preferred.
• Required knowledge of basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for calculating material fabrication.
• Detail Oriented.
• Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently – achieving customer and quality objectives.
• Skilled in working independently, following through with assignments with minimal direction.
• Reasoning skills including but not limited to comparing, classifying, analyzing, and coordinating- minimizing duplication of effort.

Education And Experience

• High School or equivalent.
• 0 or 2 years of related experience.
• At least 3 months of directly related training and/or experience operating manual machines or CNC machines in a manufacturing setting.
