Summary

This is a forestry worker position in the maintenance of City trees and grounds. Work involves trimming trees, removing dead or diseased trees, planting and caring for newly planted trees and applying protectants. This position requires the use of large equipment including bucket trucks, brush trucks, backhoes, skid steers, and woodchippers; and small equipment including chain saws, pole saws and hand saws

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Conducts tree inspections on a routine/schedule interval
• Removes limbs and branches; treats cut surfaces to protect from fungi and insects
• Removes fallen trees, dead limbs, stumps, and other debris
• Plants, stakes, cultivates, and irrigates trees
• Cleans, maintains, and repairs forestry equipment and tools
• Operates equipment such as brush trucks, bucket trucks, chippers, and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks
• Works both independently and as a crew member in all aspects of urban forestry related work
• Serves as Crew Leader and Foreman as needed
• Performs general landscape maintenance work when not assigned to tree pruning duties
• Serves as an essential worker during emergency management responses as assigned
• Follows all city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of experience as tree maintenance worker, arboriculture, or related area
• One (1) year of experience operating brush trucks and bucket trucks or related equipment
  
  
  

Certificates, Licenses, and registrations

• Valid CDL Class B
