Our Harrisonburg, VA, location is part of our Taste division and creates a variety of stock broth, soups, and bases. We have immediate openings for a Wastewater operator to support our Night shift, 7:00PM - 7:00AM, on a rotating 2,2,3 schedule.
What You'll Do
As a wastewater operator you'll be responsible for cleaning key production areas at high risk for environmental contamination.
Operates Dissolved Air Filtration units, Screens, pumps and water testing equipment in an efficient and workmanlike manner. Uses chemicals in a safe manner as established by the company. Fully understands all of the chemicals in the plant: what they’re used for, how to correctly use them, dilutions, handling of the chemicals, and what to do if improperly exposed to a chemical.

In addition, Kerry does not currently utilise video chat rooms (e.g., Google Hangouts) to conduct interviews. What You'll Do

- Fills out all documents for regulatory compliance after completing each task.
- Will be alert to spot malfunctions in the operation of equipment that could be unsafe to the employee, or others in the area. Immediately reports such conditions to their supervisor.
- May paint parts of the building and equipment.
- Reports any non-compliance conditions to supervisor
- Operates forklift
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- wastewater experience preferred
- Six months to one-year experience in wastewater operations desirable.
- Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel.
- Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions.
- Required to read and follow rules for maintaining a sanitary plant.
- The physical demands of this position include the ability to walk and stand on a regular basis. Must climb stairs and ladders.
- The ability to reach, bend/stoop, crouch, squat, push/pull and manipulate is frequently required.
- Must be able lift full pails of washing solution, jugs of chemicals, equipment, or move bags of chemicals that could weigh 50 pounds and occasionally more. Vision and the ability to read and write are required to perform this job. Talking and hearing are essential functions of this position.
- The job is performed inside and outside. There is exposure to humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and chemical agents. Hearing protection is required. On occasion there is close proximity to moving objects and sharp tools and limited room for movement when staging product. The floor surface is metal grates or concrete frequently wet in some areas. The temperature is variable based on the season and the task being performed.
- Must be able to work in cold and hot environments and able to work outside of the building as needed (i.e. snow removal, trash pickup around the building)
