Responsibilities/Duties:
What you’ll do:
- Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
- Provide comprehensive patient evaluations that set realistic short- and long-term goals, plans.
- Prepares patient for return to all aspects of daily living including home and employment by determining potential difficulties and implementing treatment plans to address all areas.
- Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress, recommending, and implementing adjustments and modifications.
- Maintains appropriate patient case load to meet company required metrics of 60-65 pts/week for a 40-hour work week.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Supervise COTA, OT/COTA students as needed.
- Completes discharges and all paperwork in timely manner and consults with physicians, nurses, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences as needed.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs
- Maintains patient confidence and protects facility operations by keeping information confidential.
- Upholds a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and infection control guidelines.
- Keeps up with professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements.
- Fabrication of custom splints and UE orthotics.
- Maintains all inventory for splinting and patient needs.
- Reports to Occupational Therapy Lead.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
Qualifications:
- Must have graduated and completed professional Occupational Therapy training from an accredited program leading to, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree.
- Must maintain current state Licensure through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Allied Health Division of Professional Licensure.
- Must be CPR certified.
- Must have strong hand therapy and orthopedic experience, comfort with splinting, CHT preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and the public by displaying sympathy, tact and understanding.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude, adjust to various personalities, work with a diverse population, demonstrating patience and professionalism.
- Represents the clinic in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all patient issues.
