Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?
The Health Information Coder is responsible for accurate medical coding for inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic tests and other medical services rendered to each patient, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies. Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines and the AAPCs ethical principles of professional conduct.
- Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices.
- Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is accurate and precise.
- Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered.
- Abstracts pertinent information from patient records. Assigns ICD10 CM/PCS codes and CPT codes to patient records with accuracy and of 95% or better.
- Collaborate with billing department to ensure all DNFB (discharged not Finial Billed) records are completed in a timely manner.
- Communicate with insurance companies about coding errors and disputes.
- Submit statistical data for analysis and research by other departments and completion by Physicians and Other Healthcare Professionals.
- Contact physician and other health care professionals with questions (queries) about treatments or diagnostic tests given to patients with regard to coding procedures.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:
- Education: High school diploma or GED and equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensure: Certification as a medical coder with AHIMA or AAPC preferred (CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPMA)
- Experience: Minimum (3) three years of medical coding experience preferred. A minimum of 2 years of medical Coding in the mental health and chemical dependency field is preferred. Thorough knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and medical terminology is required.

Compensation:
This is a full-time role and the expected compensation range for this role is $20 - $26 hourly. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Health Information Coder!
