THE ROLE
The MFS Investment Data Management team is actively searching for a Lead Business Systems Analyst to conduct data analysis and usage requirements and focuses on data and integration intensive initiatives for investment data. Primary responsibilities include working with understanding investment and trading data, integration requirements, and guiding solution design and architecture to meet these needs . Familiarity with front, middle and back-office applications is critical to defining the future-state business architecture. We are looking for someone who thrives in an agile, collaborative, team-based environment, working closely with technology peers across MFS, investment professionals and key vendor partners. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of investment data at MFS.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manage requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation processes to capture business and end user needs for investment data. Prioritize needs within and across projects based on business impact.
- Performs analysis of business activities to determine business use cases and requirements primarily related to end-to-end workflows related to Investment data management. Works closely with the Investment Data Management Office and converts business requirements into stories and functional specifications.
- Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
- Works to ensure a positive end-product for business stakeholders by overseeing the implementation of new software. Creates and maintains proper training materials and business documentation.
- Provides application and production support as needed to the departments and systems they support.
- Collaborates with the QA team in developing high-level test plans. Reviews test cases developed by the QA team. Works with automated testing team as needed for performance / load testing and automated regression testing.
- Follows the MFS Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring all steps of the process have been followed prior to releasing any code.
- Provides input into the strategic planning of the department's initiatives and resources.
- Mentors and advises less experienced Business Systems Analysts and other team members.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5-6+ years' experience in the financial services industry, supporting buy-side technology.
- Strong technical skills including a solid understanding of underlying relevant technical architecture and business processes.
- Proven ability to efficiently utilize resources and communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Project management skills, proven analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to make independent decisions.
- An in-depth understanding of Agile framework and systems development lifecycle. Ability to perform detailed analysis on systems at all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Ability to consider the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future state business environment.
- Proven ability to develop creative, innovative solutions to meet business needs.
- Deep domain knowledge of the Equity, Fixed Income and / or Derivatives asset types
- Solid understanding and experience with investment management focused application platforms (e.g., Charles River, Eagle, IBOR technologies, and data management solutions)
- Experience working with Client and Regulatory reporting.
- Experience working on complex projects using Agile SDLC
- Technical skills including usage of SQL and understanding of data and integration architecture.
