Middesk

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: San Francisco, CA
Contract type: Full time
About Middesk:

Middesk makes it easier for businesses to work together. Since 2018, we’ve been transforming business identity verification, replacing slow, manual processes with seamless access to complete, up-to-date data. Our platform helps companies across industries confidently verify business identities, onboard customers faster, and reduce risk at every stage of the customer lifecycle.

Middesk came out of Y Combinator, is backed by Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners, and was recently named to Forbes Fintech 50 List and cited as an industry leader in business verification by digital identity strategy firm, Liminal.

The Role:

As a Product Designer at Middesk, you’ll take ownership of designing features from concept to launch, ensuring they resonate with the needs of our customers. You’ll deliver impactful customer experiences by driving the end-to-end design process across a variety of our products. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and marketers to craft engaging designs that align with business goals and enhance customer satisfaction.

We follow a hybrid work model, and for this role, there is an expectation of 2 days per week in our SF office. Candidates should be based within a commutable distance, as we believe in the value of in-person collaboration and building strong team connections while also supporting flexibility where possible.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact opportunities and design features that address our customers' most critical needs.
  • Rapidly generate multiple concepts and prototypes, knowing when to apply high-fidelity detail and when to utilize low-fi sketches and quick prototypes.
  • Balance immediate product design needs with long-term vision, dedicating time to exploring how the product can evolve and improve over time.
  • Partner with engineering to conceptualize, build, and ship highly usable, customer-loved products.
  • Leverage data to inform your design decisions, using insights from analytics and conducting usability studies to refine new features.
  • Own the design process by establishing realistic timelines, managing deliverables, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule.
  • Help improve and elevate the role of design within the company.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Design, with a proven track record of building intuitive, effective interactions that drive product and business outcomes.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing relevant design work, including products that have successfully shipped.
  • Expertise in data-informed design, user research, and A/B testing.
  • A deep understanding of best practices and contemporary design patterns.
  • A passionate advocate for the customer, with the ability to balance customer needs with business goals in your designs.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working with and creating pattern libraries, with a passion for design systems and methodologies like atomic design.
  • Proficiency in git and front-end frameworks (e.g., ReactJS), with the ability to contribute changes independently with minimal assistance from engineering.
  • Bonus skills such as illustration, branding, photography, motion design, or other creative disciplines.
