Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Planner II plays a key role in optimizing supply chain operations. This position is responsible for analyzing purchasing, forecasting, transportation, and inventory management to ensure efficiency and alignment with company objectives. The role requires strong analytical skills and cross-functional collaboration but does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Forecasting (20%)
- Develop finished product forecasts in collaboration with the sales team to align with sales and financial plans.
- Create detailed SKU-level projections for major accounts and provide necessary supply information to the appropriate factory.
- Actively participate in bi-weekly forecasting and alignment meetings with the Sales team to ensure demand planning accuracy.
- Plan and manage inventory levels to support sales forecasts while staying within agreed inventory targets across the supply chain.
- Optimize inventory distribution across warehouses to minimize unnecessary intercompany transfers.
- Utilize forecasting tools and supply planning techniques to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), including fill rates, inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and production schedule adherence.
- Monitor production schedules and finished goods inventory to improve order fulfillment and maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Assess and communicate supply chain limitations when demand fulfillment challenges cannot be mitigated.
- Serve as a key point of contact for resolving forecast discrepancies, recommending corrective actions, and driving alignment across stakeholders.
- Analyze inventory and supply plan variances, conduct root cause analysis for stock shortages, and adjust production and deployment plans as needed.
- Request reroutes and adjust purchase orders (expedite or delay) to optimize inventory flow and fulfillment.
Reporting (20%)
- Maintain and enhance existing reports while developing new reports to support data-driven decision-making.
- Track and analyze departmental performance metrics to improve forecasting and inventory management processes.
- Assist buyers in parts planning, including evaluating slow-moving parts and scrapping obsolete inventory when necessary.
- Work with the Quality team to assess parts needs based on monthly work plans and place appropriate orders.
- Review usage trends and adjust reorder levels for warranty parts as needed.
- Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, refurb, and assembly teams on projects related to inventory management.
- Support additional projects as assigned.
Education:
- BA or BS in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or in a related Business or Technical field is required
- APICS CPIM certification preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in supply/demand management and forecast analysis, preferably in consumer goods industry selling to big box retailers and e-commerce
- Must have a solid knowledge of and experience in applying principles, concepts, and theories within inventory management
- Experience with strategic planning, capacity planning, master scheduling, and inventory control
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Power Query, Microsoft Power BI (or equivalent) knowledge a plus
- Word, PowerPoint, ERP experience required
- SAP, statistical tools, data mining/reporting tools preferred
- 5% domestic, local, and international travel will be required (customer visits, factory visits)
