Position Description

 

The Prospect Development Analyst supports the Our Rescue Advancement team, focusing primarily on corporations and foundations while also assisting Major Gifts as needed. This role is responsible for identifying and researching potential donors, analyzing prospect data, and maintaining database integrity to enhance fundraising efforts.

Working closely with the Corporate Alliances team and the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Analyst will identify new prospects, assess philanthropic alignment, and map key connections. They will also lead efforts to maintain data hygiene, support moves management strategies, and track portfolio health through regular CRM updates and team meetings.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Prospect Identification

  • Identify potential donors by conducting research on individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Use various databases, wealth screening tools, and public records to identify and assess prospective donors' wealth and philanthropic capacity.
  • Use CRM (Virtuous) and Fundraise Up to reveal capacity for giving and upgrade giving


Prospect Research

  • Conduct detailed research on prospects and donors, including financial capacity, philanthropic history, professional background, and affiliations.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to create comprehensive profiles on potential donors.
  • Stay current with trends in philanthropy, wealth indicators, and industry best practices.


Portfolio and Database Management

  • Maintain and update fundraising portfolios in the organization’s donor management database following monthly portfolio strategy meetings.
  • Maintain and update donor information in the organization’s donor management database.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of prospect research data.


Collaborative Support

  • Collaborate with advancement officers, fundraising teams, and senior leadership to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on research findings to support major gift solicitations and campaign efforts.
  • Serve as a valued team member in prospect management meetings.


Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate reports and provide data-driven insights to support fundraising strategies.
  • Analyze donor patterns and trends to identify new fundraising opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to conduct a wealth screening of prospects and donors to better inform assignment of donor portfolios for advancement staff.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., research, business, library science, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in prospect research, fundraising, development, or a related field – preferred.
  • Proficiency with research tools and databases.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
