Health First Careers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDS Outpatient Coder III to join our Coding and Documentation team in Melbourne, Florida. As a CDS Outpatient Coder III, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely coding and documentation for our outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately code outpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Ensure compliance with all coding and documentation guidelines and regulations
  • Conduct thorough documentation reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding
  • Stay updated on all coding and documentation changes and updates
  • Provide education and training to coding and documentation staff as needed
  • Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
  • Minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience in a healthcare setting
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Strong understanding of coding and documentation guidelines and regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems and coding software

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and formulate logical decisions to apply clinical coding guidelines to health record documentation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for professional interaction.
  • Excellent computer and telephone skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and electronic mail.
  • Must be detail and accuracy oriented.
  • Ability to coordinate and use logical reasoning to facilitate daily workflow assignments.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently maintaining focus on scope of work assigned.

Work Experience: 5 years outpatient coding experience.

Licensure: N/A
