The supervisor will be overseeing an remote indexing team as well as some staff onsite. The Supervisor builds and supports a team to assure quality documentation in the electronic health record throughout Mayo Clinic. The supervisor effectively manages onsite staff and teleworkers and encourages self-directed teams. Communicates ideas, develops and implements policies, and initiates program development and coaching/mentoring.
The supervisor promotes educational opportunities to staff and encourages staff to learn, grow and take on leadership roles; provides leadership and representation for staff; serves on institutional committees/work groups/client practice groups; provides in-depth expertise in medical documentation best practices, process improvement, problem resolution and regulatory agency and institutional standards and requirements. Strong organizational and communication skills and a commitment to quality and excellence in service are important components of the role.
The supervisor forecasts department needs; assures the balance of cost, quality and service delivery levels; staffs to workload appropriately; prioritizes workflows to meet patient care needs; liaises with medical staff to improve processes; facilitates and implements quality and data integrity improvements using performance improvement tools; facilitates electronic health record documentation posting and integrity; and works collaboratively and maintains relationships with customers. The supervisor stays current with industry standards and initiatives. May attend meetings on site or remotely as necessary with physicians, colleagues and allied health personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
This Position is 100% Remote can work from anywhere within the United States
Qualifications
This position requires an associate degree in health information, organizational leadership, business, or related field, and three years of relevant management experience in a healthcare setting. Previous supervisory experience in a collaborative workplace required. For those supervisors working in Documentation Services, computer and transcription system experience is required including demonstrated equipment proficiency. Prefer a bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated organizational, communication and teaching skills. Candidates must articulate a willingness to work with and be available to staff spread over a wide geographical area, with varying schedules. Supervisor will be expected to utilize technology for communication, but also to discern when a face-to-face presence is necessary. None except where required by state law. Applicable AHIMA, HIMSS or AHDI credentials preferred. Excellent Communication, Ability to collaborate well with others
RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.

$58,739.20 - $88,192.00/ year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
