The Audio Visual Technician Trainee supports the setup, operation, and maintenance of AV systems for events and productions at the Muckleshoot Community Center. This entry-level role is designed to provide hands-on learning opportunities in audio and video production. Under supervision, the trainee assists with equipment setup, testing, operation, and troubleshooting. The role helps document community events and enhances the Tribe’s ability to communicate effectively through multimedia. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including some evenings and weekends. The position supports cultural preservation, technical learning, and community engagement through audiovisual services.

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of AV equipment.
  • Operate basic lighting, microphones, projectors, and sound systems.
  • Support live-streaming and video recording of community events.
  • Inspect, clean, and organize AV equipment regularly.
  • Learn to operate video cameras and switchboards.
  • Troubleshoot issues during events with senior support.
  • Document inventory and report missing or broken items.
  • Attend technical training workshops and on-the-job sessions.
  • Contribute ideas to improve production processes.
  • Communicate with event staff to ensure setup needs are met.
  • Monitor live audio levels during presentations or performances.
  • Assist with editing simple recordings when requested.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in public event settings.
  • Participate in team meetings and status briefings.
  • Work collaboratively with both IT and Community Center staff.
  • Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.


Required

  • Graduation from a high school or equivalent with course work in general office practices.


Preferred

  • Coursework in audio/video technology, film production, or a related field is a plus.

The position requires regular movement between various event setups, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment up to 30 pounds. The employee may be required to climb short ladders or reach overhead to adjust lighting and wiring. Work is often performed in dim or bright lighting depending on event requirements. Use of hands and fingers is necessary to operate small controls, plug cables, and handle delicate AV components. Occasional long periods of standing or walking during events should be expected. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor locations with varying noise levels. Good visual acuity is needed to read screens and monitor video output. Hearing must be sufficient to monitor sound levels and detect audio feedback.
