Federated Hermes, Inc., one of the nation’s largest investment managers with over $839.8 billion assets under management, has an exciting opportunity for an International Equity Analyst, with some US coverage as well, to join our International Core/Value team, which comprises of eleven team members with significant investment experience. The ideal candidate will have some investment experience; however, we will consider candidates who are hard-working, initiative-takers, and have a passion for learning and investing.
Position Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; coursework in Finance and Accounting preferred and/or CFA or progress towards CFA helpful.
- Some investment experience (2 years) in/or covering the TMT space in a professional/corporate environment which may include internships or exposure to the asset management business preferred.
- Advanced skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and possibly Bloomberg and FactSet preferred
- Strong desire to pursue a career as an investment professional and international markets which may be evidenced by participating in investment clubs, international economic clubs, etc. preferred
- Strong work ethic, analytical, oral and written communication, and decision-making skills required in a team-oriented environment
- Must possess a passion for investing
Major Duties:
- Under the guidance of a Senior Portfolio Manager, who is also responsible for Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT), and the Head of the Intl Core/Value Group, the analyst will interview management of companies, meet with Wall Street Analysts, initiate, perform, and maintain in-depth research and analysis of global stocks within Media, Telecom, and IT sectors as well as other sectors as needed to provide high quality recommendations. The investment analysis will include financial statement analysis, financial modeling, comparable company analysis as well as assessment of industry, currency, political, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) characteristics, and macroeconomic trends.
- Utilize analysis to formulate investment ideas and clearly articulate (verbal and written) to portfolio managers for inclusion in portfolios. This includes generating and diligently communicating value-added buy, sell, and hold recommendations in a written and standardized format on individual securities and other information relevant to the portfolio.
- With the Portfolio Manager’s oversight, the analyst will stay current on industry trends, new technologies, regulatory changes, and company specific issues. Sources include, but not limited to, industry conferences/seminars, industry publications, public documents, trade journals, C-Suite management interviews, and Wall Street analysts.
- Review analyst, company, and industry reports and participate on earnings calls.
- Participate in investment meetings within the firm.
The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 – $150,000. In determining salary multiple factors will be taken into consideration such as primary work location, experience, education and skill set.
