About The Role

The Director of Pricing & Administration position is responsible for the development of pricing strategies for revenue retention and growth and strategy and oversight of the Pricing, Rating, Invoicing, and Database processes. The Director of Pricing and Administration provides ownership in purchased transportation for ocean and beyond. Additionally, this position ensures all invoicing is accurate through auditing and supports sales and collections with invoicing requirements and processing. The primary functions of this position is to maintain an efficient, cost effective, and professional Pricing, Rating, and Invoicing departments while ensuring positive customer service and employee relations.

What you’ll do:

  • Train and manage Rates and Logistic staff with their respective managers, in areas such as:
    • Rates freight bills
    • Provides quotes for customers in timely fashion
    • Audits Invoices
    • Tariffs
    • Analyzing land costs
    • Reporting
    • Customer Service
    • Research claims for shortages and overages
    • Research accounts receivable issues
    • Data entry
    • Reviews and approves purchased transportation invoices
    • Timecards
  • Assist Rates and Administration staff in all areas of responsibilities
  • Assist customers (over phone and face-to-face) regarding rates, special requests, researching problems in a polite, professional, and timely manner
  • Communicate and enforce company policies
  • Process paperwork and reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Research competition and market trends
  • Special projects as requested
  • Coordinate and hold regular meetings with Rates and Administration staff regarding company updates, customer service and/or safety issues
  • Assist coworkers and other departments as requested
  • Negotiate ocean, inland and beyond rates
  • Manage ocean and customer contracts
  • Develop effective tools to support departmental needs
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Higher education or vocational training, specific to transportation, preferred
  • Requires 10 or more years of experience in the transportation or freight industry
  • Requires previous management experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position

  • Position requires no special certification/license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and/or in front of a computer for an extended period of time
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment where exposure to the elements and exhaust fumes are likely

The salary range is posted for this position in Washington. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
