THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $60,889 - $70,022.
The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
The Division of Policy, Planning and Measurement (PPM) collaborates with every ACS division to guide systems analysis and strategic systems improvement; assure quality of practice at ACS and its provider agencies; professionalize the frontline workforce; bring knowledge into practice; provide research and analytic support; and plan and develop new programs and policies.
The Training Unit provides frontline staff with the values, skills, and knowledge necessary to support Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice cases, primarily through core trainings provided by the James Satterwhite Academy. Juvenile Justice Training unit is responsible for delivering mandated pre-service and in-service training to Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) secure and non-secure detention staff. In addition, training is provided for DYFJ Close-to-Home (CTH) and Family Preservation Services (FPS) Congregate Care Specialists.
Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the Community Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

- Provide strength-based practice and training on current NYC juvenile justice practice and policy.
- Supervise and coach new and seasoned juvenile justice staff on competencies for juvenile justice practice and the ability to coach and develop staff.
- Collaborate in all aspects of the training departments work: including scheduling, administrative tasks, and quality improvement.
- Provide training in various components of the Juvenile Justice Core Learning Program.
- Provide evaluative and developmental feedback to participants.
- Work closely with ACS’, DYFJ and our Providers to develop, coordinate and implement training for frontline staff and supervisors.
- Participate in assignments as needed and attend trainings and meetings as indicated.

- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
