Attributes And Skillsets
Three years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a clerical role is required. Experience in an analyst role is highly valued. Proficiency in data analytics, particularly with large datasets, statistics, field data collection, GIS, and/or accounting, is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, public administration, computer science, finance, engineering, urban planning, or a related field preferred. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree would be considered.
Salary Range: $63,748-$88,012 per year (Depending on Experience)
Compensation packages are determined based on a variety of factors specific to each candidate, including geographic location, skillset, the mix of relevant education, certifications, experience level, and performance. At Long Beach Transit, compensation decisions are made considering the unique requirements and circumstances of each position.

Responsibilities
- Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery by applying data analytics and statistical methods to existing LBT operation data sources including the Automatic Passengers Counting (APC) program, GFI farebox, Vontas TransitMaster, and Swiftly performance and customer-focused data.
- Organizes and analyzes schedule adherence data to identify and track trends, investigate trends (including required field work), and puts forth recommendations for improvement.
- Reviews and implements revisions to fixed route schedules, bus stop details, and pre-designed operator work assignments.
- Maintains bus stop inventory and associated files to support the determination of new bus stop locations and adjustments to current bus stops.
- Updates scheduling and run cut databases: mileage, deadhead routes and deadhead route instructions, bus garages, comments, operator relief points, bus stops, and geographic information systems (GIS) mapping.
- Prepares cost scenarios based on scheduling and run cutting techniques in the development of new services or the modification of current services.
- Prepares operator bid supporting documents and materials, narrative instructions, and coordinates dissemination of bid supporting documents to all affected departments.
- Provides reporting to the National Transit Database (NTD) as they relate to service delivery and planning, conducts other compliance reporting for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), LA Metro, and other entities on an as needed basis.
- Complies with all safety regulations as stated in the company safety program, and reports safety-related accidents, incidents, and unsafe work conditions. Attends safety-training programs as required.

Attributes And Skillsets
- Knowledge of and/or experience with transit scheduling software (preferably HASTUS) and daily operations programs is highly desirable.
- Communicates and engages effectively with others, including co-workers, policy makers, vendors, visitors, and members of the public.
- Demonstrates considerable initiative with strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Familiar with the Esri ArcGIS product suite, including but not limited to ArcGIS Online, Pro, and Enterprise.
- Base understanding of transit planning practices related to bus operations, scheduling, ridership analysis, demographics, and land use integration.
- Understanding and application of mathematical concepts used to compute time (hours/minutes), percentages, and summary reports.
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects with strong decision-making and innovative critical thinking skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, PowerBI, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to gather and synthesize data and prepare clear, concise reports, while maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Familiarity with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) such as real-time vehicle location tracking, general transit feed specification (GTFS), etc.
