The Scientist in Quantitative Pharmacology will develop and apply Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) modeling approaches to support decision-making for both preclinical and clinical programs. This role involves collaboration with scientists from different functions including Research, Discovery Biology, Translational Medicine, and Clinical Development to provide quantitative insights to advance therapies for neurodegenerative disease. This role is within the Quantitative and Clinical Pharmacology (QCP) team within the Development Sciences function.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform quantitative analyses using mathematical modeling and quantitative pharmacology principles to inform decision making for preclinical and clinical programs with a focus on mechanistic and translational modeling.
  • Develop and apply fit-for-purpose mathematical models (QSP, PK-PD, PBPK, population PK, exposure-response) using specialized tools with minimal supervision to address project team objectives, including target and compound evaluation, biomarker investigation, and preclinical and clinical study design optimization.
  • Build effective collaborations within project and cross-functional teams in the organization.
  • Document and archive contributions including data analyses, mathematical models, summary presentations and reports to enable sharing and reproducibility within the organization..
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate results at project team meetings, senior leadership meetings, and external conferences.

Qualifications/Skills

  • PhD or PharmD in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Proven track record and publications applying systems modeling and simulation approaches to biological systems and/or drug development either in industry or academia.
  • Proficiency with systems modeling approaches such as differential equation, logic, stochastic, agent-based, or other advanced mechanistic modeling approaches.
  • Experience with relevant software or programming languages (e.g., Simbiology, MATLAB, NONMEM, R, or C).
  • Experience investigating PK/PD relationships for biotherapeutics or small molecules is preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking and scientific skills, and a demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate complex results.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively on cross-functional projects teams.
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $117,000.00 to $147,667.00 . Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
