Purpose

Oversee and coordinate the induction melting operations in ME Elecmetal Duluth, Minnesota foundry. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day induction melting activities, ensuring metallurgical quality, coordinating with production teams, and enforcing safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of larger induction melting processes (10 ton and up furnaces), strong leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all induction melting operations and activities.
  • Manage and train a team of induction melt operators, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, production schedules quality standards and key metrics.
  • Monitor furnace performance and ensure proper maintenance of melting equipment, including refractory lining and induction coils.
  • Collaborate with quality department to ensure that melts meet precise chemical and temperature specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production records, material usage, and equipment logs.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of raw materials, chemicals, and alloys.
  • Participate continuous improvement initiatives related to energy efficiency, process optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams for upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain and adhere to ISO standards, including but not limited to the Quality Policy Statement as well as the Quality Control Procedures Manual.
  • Coordinate with the Duluth management team regularly to ensure proper communication and alignment of goals.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in induction melting within a foundry environment, preference for a majority of experience to be in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of induction furnace operation, metallurgy, melt practices, and foundry safety protocols.
  • Proven leadership qualities to develop a workforce with a strong team attitude for success and achieving shared goals.
