The Career Development Specialist will provide specialized career development guidance to assist current students and alumni in developing competencies required to pursue academic and career opportunities and achieve professional career development through workshops and presentations; collaborates with faculty and staff to deliver career development content.

Job Summary
The Career Development Specialist will provide specialized career development guidance to assist current students and alumni in developing competencies required to pursue academic and career opportunities and achieve professional career development through workshops and presentations; collaborates with faculty and staff to deliver career development content.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison to colleges and departments, coordinating with academic advisors, student success coordinators, and faculty to integrate career development into the student experience.
- Provide one-on-one and small group career advising to undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines on career readiness, job search strategies, career decision making, professional networking and interviewing strategies, and other career-related topics.
- Develop and coordinate programs and services to serve a large population of students and alumni.
- Develop curriculum for and conduct career development-related workshops and class presentations. Pilot new initiatives, digital tools, and learning formats (e.g., micro-learning, gamification, experiential career education) that align with student learning styles and employer expectations.
- Engage in the strategic direction of the Center and the University and contribute to the yearly assessment and evolution of the strategy.
- Use innovative approaches, including digital tools, AI-integrated platforms, and data insights to tailor guidance to individual students’ goals and market demands.
- Stay ahead of trends in career coaching, recruiting practices, and industry shifts to continuously improve service delivery.
- Analyze and synthesize labor and job market trends, career opportunities, and career development theory for undergraduates and graduates of the university.
- Assist in assessing the usage and effectiveness of office programs and services through measurable data collection.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and occasional off-campus training/workshops throughout the year. Participation in external professional associations as necessary.
- Possible supervision of student staff. Potential oversight and implementation of special projects and programs related to career engagement and professional development of students and UTA alumni.
- Potential committee and task force involvement for the department, Division of Student Affairs, and/or university as a whole.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience working in higher education, career development, business, human resources, talent acquisition, or a related field.
- Experience in developing and conducting workshops/seminars.
- Master’s degree and one (1) year of experience working in higher education, career development, business, human resources, talent acquisition, or a related field.
- Supervisory experience a plus
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strategic, innovative, creative, presentation and facilitation skills,
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment. Work occasional weekends and evenings as assigned.
- Demonstrated expertise in career planning and development.
- Ability to develop curriculum and conduct workshops, class presentations and other group sessions.
- Knowledge of career counseling theories and contemporary job search techniques.
