About The Role

Kinetic’s Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering organization plans and designs cutting edge outside plant networks that connect consumers and small business partners to our leading telecommunications products across the United States. As a member of Kinetic’s Central Engineering team, you will partner with our internal and external OSP planners, engineers, permitting specialists, and construction managers to deliver high quality Engineering design packages to Kinetic’s Construction organization. By analyzing and reporting on a dynamic flow of engineering data, you will provide insights that drive the OSP Engineering organization’s success and play a key role in deploying ultra-fast, reliable broadband to consumers and small businesses across the U.S.

What You’ll Do

  • Interact with internal and external OSP Engineering and Construction teams to support the engineering design process
  • Communicate daily with other work groups, both technical and non-technical, to provide timely updates and pass on information in a clear and concise manner
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, requests, and escalations to ensure they are addressed and completed within SLA
  • Access and analyze data from multiple IT systems used by OSP Engineering, such as JobTrac, Quickbase, WinBuy, SharePoint, and Power BI
  • Monitor design status to determine when projects are ready for approval, finalize requirements, and route jobs for approval in JobTrac
  • Generate and publish timely reporting to provide an accurate and concise overview of projects flowing through OSP Engineering
  • Develop ad hoc reporting to provide additional project details as requested by OSP leadership
  • Identify data integrity issues, determine root causes, and provide recommendations on how to fix the problems
  • Apply known standards and guidelines to resolve unusual or non-recurring events
  • Communicate with external engineering vendors to ensure work is being completed according to Windstream standards and timelines and escalate as necessary
  • Coordinate vendor access to required Kinetic systems and resources
  • Validate vendor invoicing against approved jobs to ensure accuracy

Do You Have?

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and complete work assignments in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present detailed information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to quickly understand requirements and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Team-oriented and experienced at working in a collaborative environment. Willing to consider the opinions of others and think outside the box.
  • Desire to learn new skills and a willingness to embrace change with a positive attitude
  • Solid PC skills with the aptitude to quickly learn new software applications
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using database or business analytics software to generate reports and analyze large sets of data

Even Better

  • 4-year college degree in a technical (STEM) related field
  • General understanding of telecom industry concepts and terminology
  • General understanding of outside plant engineering and construction principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulas
  • Experience using Quickbase, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Familiarity with SQL and query writing

Minimum Requirements

College degree with 0-3 years of relevant professional experience or 4+ years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and r relevant professional experience
