Summary Of Position

The primary focus of a System Administrator within IT is to support and administer Bankwell’s’ infrastructure and provide advanced technical support. System Administrators ensure the operational capabilities of systems by accomplishing MACs (moves, adds, changes) to existing hardware and software, providing a path of escalation for complex or high-risk IT requests, diagnosing issues, capacity planning, and working assigned projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities Include

  • Support:
  • Creation and maintenance of patching packages, collections, queries, and inventory. Software packages include the creation of base server configuration.
  • Provide escalated technical support
  • Monitor and complete tickets in assigned queues
  • Drive application deployment processes and collaboration with Solutions Development
  • Monitor and respond to Security alerts in Cortex and Tenable
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance
  • Keep management apprised of critical issues
  • User training and knowledge sharing with both internal team and user base
  • Ability to work in a secure datacenter environment (including lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • Projects:
  • Track and complete assigned IT projects
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion and quality of work
  • Adhere to implementation, quality control, and change control standards
  • Work cross-functionally with teams to align with business objectives
  • Keep management apprised of risks to project success
  • Documentation:
  • Develop quality documentation of technical processes and procedures
  • Document all ticket and project work
  • Ensure documentation is sufficient to yield reproducible results
  • Identify and close any gaps in the existing documentation of the infrastructure
  • Assist in policy, security, and compliance documentation efforts
  • Monitoring:
  • Review and manage automated infrastructure monitoring systems
  • Review allocation of systems and storage to identify usage trends
  • Keep management apprised of system and storage capacity needs
  • Optimization:
  • Capacity plan and performance monitoring
  • Ensure management has clear visibility into system health and performance trends
  • Identify improvements to operational capabilities and performance
  • Recommend improvements to systems and support process
  • Recommend implementation standards


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent experience or technical certifications
  • 4 or more years of proven systems administration experience with a focus on operational excellence and process automation (PowerShell is a plus)
  • Experience with multiple technologies, processes and environments with a proven ability to execute against project plans
  • Subject matter competency in areas such as Microsoft servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune, Jamf, storage, and information security
  • Familiarity and experience with industry standard administration tools and methodologies
  • Ability to manage situations of catastrophic failure or of a high risk and critical nature
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Able to contribute positively and collaborate as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong will to help others
  • Strong attention to detail, and highly organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrives in a high-pressure environment and has the ability to work with tight deadlines
