Jr. Analyst, Baseball Strategy & Operations - #1412940

Job Summary

As a member of the Baseball Operations and Strategy department, this position assists in building and maintaining systems pertaining to pro player acquisition, contracts, and valuation.

Primary Responsibilities

• Reference pro player valuation tools and metrics to continually identify and prioritize pro player acquisition opportunities.
• Use R/Python and SQL to develop and maintain new and existing strategy and valuation tools.
• Collaborate with various departments including Advance Scouting, Analytics, Player Development, and Pro Scouting to continually improve strategy and valuation systems.
• Communicate research and acquisition recommendations to colleagues and decision makers.
• Complete ad hoc research to enhance in-game strategy and advance scouting materials, as requested.
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related field. Applicants with a non-traditional educational background and experience will be considered as well and are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency with SQL and R/Python.
• Demonstrated experience with completing quantitative research.
• Familiarity with MLB’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and transaction rules.
• Familiarity with latest baseball industry trend and publicly available baseball research.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with staff members of all levels.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays).
