Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Central Area Pipeline Department (CAPD). CAPD is responsible for pumping and transporting hydrocarbon products within the Central Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


Your primary role will be to provide Electrical Engineering support to 11 crude oil pump stations, 4 Compression Station, 2 Booster Stations and ASL Stabilizer. In addition, you will lead projects related to electrical systems and participate in walkthrough activities for capital projects.


Key responsibilities:

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Assess plant power systems and substations, and recommend new installations or modifications to improve power system reliability or the replacement of defective/obsolete electrical equipment.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and assistance to maintenance staff in resolving power system related problems.
  • Provide capital project design reviews and comments for the whole project cycle (design basis scoping paper, project proposals and detailed design packages).
  • Perform site activities, such as field engineering, support for pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup.
  • Provide technical support for all field power systems at Central and Western Area Pipeline facilities and maintain the Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) models for all plants.
  • Serve as technical lead on ETAP studies, Power Monitoring Systems (PMS), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Direct Current (DC) systems, medium & low voltage Switchgears/Transformers/MCC/Cables/Motors & Generators and protection system during project design and provide support during implementations.
  • Prepare conceptual design packages and engineering budgetary cost estimates.
  • Review installation, site commissioning and factory acceptance testing for low and high voltage transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers and control gear.
  • Analyze the components, design parameters, installation, operation and maintenance requirements of UPS, DC and battery systems.
  • Provide project specifications and demonstrate operations and maintenance requirements for transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers and control gear.
  • Analyze cathodic protection (CP) surveys, provide recommendations for CP deficiencies and optimize the distribution of CP systems along the pipelines corridors.
  • Assess safety and instrumentation grounding systems and provide recommendations to protect instrumentation and control system against surge and lightning issues.


Minimum Requirements:

  • You must have a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in the oil industry.
  • You must be certified as Professional Engineer in Power field or equivalent.
  • Experience must be such that you are recognized as power specialist engineer for Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices related to oil and gas facilities is essential.
  • Experience in designing electrical systems and equipment for oil and gas projects is also required.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as IEEE, IEC, API, and NEC is a must.
