Position Overview

At the de Paul School, we teach students with learning differences how to learn, become independent, and be successful. We are seeking a skilled K-8 Academic Interventionist to provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with language-based learning differences and attention-related challenges. This role emphasizes a structured approach to data-driven instruction within a Science of Learning framework to support students in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning. The interventionist will collaborate with classroom teachers to assess student needs and design interventions using de Paul School’s five pillars of instruction.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Intervention
  • Utilize multisensory, explicit, and systematic instructional methods aligned with Mind Brain Education Science
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions focusing on phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and mathematical reasoning.
  • Provide targeted support in math, addressing foundational concepts and problem-solving skills.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences.
  • Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction
    • Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
    • Analyze data to inform instructional decisions and adjust interventions as needed.
    • Develop and maintain individualized learning plans with measurable goals.
    • Collaborate with teachers to align interventions with classroom instruction and curriculum.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development
    • Work closely with classroom teachers, families, and administrators to support student success.
    • Maintain open communication with families regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
    • Participate in school-wide initiatives and events
    • Other duties assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s and/or Licensure/Certification preferred).
  • Proven instructional experience and expertise with students who learn differently, including training in supporting students with attention and language-based learning differences.
  • Understanding and experience with pedagogical practices associated with the Science of Learning and the Science of Reading.
  • Experience in an independent or private school is desirable.
  • Experience and training utilizing evidence based instructional practices and data informed instruction.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Exemplary communication skills in 1:1, small group, and public settings.
  • Unquestionable integrity, particularly in honesty, discernment, and trustworthiness.
  • A professional disposition toward being collaborative, resilient, optimistic, highly organized, coachable, and maintaining a growth mindset.
