The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP) is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Acceleration Academy Director for our Anchorage site. In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the academic and personal journeys of high school students (ages 13-19), guiding them toward successful careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This position provides comprehensive leadership and management for all facets of the program. You'll be responsible for the academic well-being and achievement of students, the professional growth and performance of staff, and the efficient operation of the program's resources and facilities. Furthermore, you'll cultivate a positive and safe learning environment through effective communication and community engagement. You'll support students with guidance and discipline, ensure safety and compliance, manage risks, engage with the community for recruitment, foster a positive program culture, and collaborate across different ANSEP sites.
To truly excel as an ANSEP Acceleration Academy Director, you'll need to be a visionary leader with a deep commitment to student success and safety, specifically within a high school setting. Your ability to effectively manage staff, coupled with a genuine love for teaching and guiding students, will be crucial. We're looking for someone who understands how to professionally handle student emergencies and navigate complex situations with calm and clarity. Exceptional skills in managing programs and budgets, along with a talent for building strong relationships with students, parents, school districts, and community partners, are essential. Your proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving, combined with superior organizational and communication skills, will ensure the program runs smoothly and achieves its goals.
Minimum Qualifications
This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff (salary) position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or education field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Teaching certification and/or Masters degree preferred.
- Current CPR with AED/First Aid certification preferred.
- At least three years of management experience in a school or youth development program
- Position requires driving an ANSEP vehicle. Applicant must be 21 and older to apply and have a valid AK driver's license with three years of a driving record on a valid driver's license.
