Position Description:
We are looking for a Civil/Structural Substation Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and five to ten years of experience with high voltage substation design. Substation design encompasses distribution, sub-transmission and transmission level voltage classes. Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor is required. Experience with STAAD, MathCAD, LPILE, RISA or equivalent engineering software is preferred. Some travel will be required for this role. A professional Engineering License is preferred. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible work schedule (hybrid or remote) is available.

- Responsible for structural design of electrical substation structures and foundations
- Prepare and review calculations following industry standard methods and principles
- Provide technical guidance and direction to junior engineers
- Assist in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards
- Perform detailed quality reviews of project deliverables
- Attend and/or conduct client and project meetings
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Promote sales
- Review scope, budget and schedule for project tasks
- Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
- 5-10 years of civil/structural experience with high voltage substation design is required
- Professional Engineering License is preferred
- Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor is required
- Experience with STAAD, MathCAD, LPILE, RISA or equivalent engineering software is preferred
- Strong knowledge of utility standards, AISC, ASCE, ACI, IBC, and an understanding of construction techniques is required
- Candidate must be willing to travel
