the job:
As an HR Intern at amika, you’ll work closely with our people team to gain hands-on experience across key areas of human resources. This is a great opportunity for you to enhance and grow your depth of HR knowledge by shadowing team members and taking on projects and tasks in our HR department. You will be involved in and learn about many aspects of HR, including benefit administration, company culture, events, onboarding and employee engagement.
salary: $16 per hour
location: Brooklyn, NY. 4-6 days a month onsite (must be based in + have the right to work in the US)
what you'll do:
- Conduct biweekly one-on-one meetings with all amika interns to ensure they are all learning, satisfied and engaged
- Assist with weekly onboarding and offboarding tasks
- Help coordinate and plan events
- Contribute ideas for events and programs
- Maintain certain areas of our HRIS (Rippling)
- Enroll new employees into certain benefit programs
- Perform various administrative tasks and support our HR department’s daily activities
- Assist in addressing employee queries about HR-related topics.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned
must haves:
- Currently pursuing a masters degree or recently graduated with an undergrad in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field
- Passion for people, culture, and building inclusive workplaces
- Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills
- Discreet with confidential information
- Eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Proficient in Microsoft suite (word, excel, powerpoint)
nice to haves:
- Experience using canva is a plus
- Prior internship or work experience in HR a plus
