The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking qualified service-oriented candidates for the position of Public Service Officer. Public Service Officers support the Village of Arlington Heights Police Department with a wide range of administrative and field duties and play a crucial role in ensuring public safety, order, and supporting positive community relations.
In this position, the Public Service Officer will support public safety initiatives and may be assigned to enforce Village parking ordinances and/or support the Police Information Desk. Public Service Officers provide excellent customer service by assisting residents and visitors, responding to non-emergency inquires, and effectively communicating with police officers to assist in the delivery of services.
Public Services Officers support the department with duties such as enforcing parking time limits and Village ordinances, collecting money from commuter lot pay boxes, and assisting with controlling pedestrian and vehicle traffic during accidents, emergencies, and events. They also support the day-to-day operations of the Police Information Desk, transport vehicles, and perform detention cell inspections. In addition, the Public Service Officer will support in accurate record keeping and data entry as well as other special projects, as assigned.
The Public Service Officer will be assigned to one of three shifts that generally covers: 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.; or, 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma, and one to three years of related experience. Knowledge or experience with law enforcement procedures and terminology is preferred, but not required. Prior experience in customer service or an administrative role is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $69,390–$93,675, with an anticipated hiring range of $69,390–$71,306, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
